While many movie studios have distanced themselves from Lindsay Lohan, the creative minds behind one project were eagerly working with her. Lohan was set to star in "Inferno," a film chronicling the life of '70s porn icon Linda Lovelace, and director Matthew Wilder has bashed the actress' 90-day sentence.
But what does the billion-dollar porn industry think about Lohan's embrace of one of their own? Before her sentencing, MTV News spoke to various figures in the adult-entertainment world to get an insider's view on Lohan's latest Hollywood exploits.
Like Lohan, Lovelace courted controversy and faced an unraveling career, volatile breakups and drug convictions. And according to "Pirates" superstar Jesse Jane, that's precisely why the troubled actress is right for the role.
"The thing is, no one big in Hollywood would play [Lovelace] because it has to do with porn. That's a taboo thing for actresses," Jane said. "Lindsay, I think, will really be able to tap into Linda Lovelace because they might have a lot of things in common."
Both Jane and fellow star Chanel Preston agree that the movie will give Lohan the career bump she needs. "If she is able to play Linda well," Preston said, "then I think people will really respect that she possibly used her own troubles to accurately portray an American icon."
Hollywood has rarely flirted with its steamier colleagues, with the Oscar-nominated "The People vs. Larry Flint" and "Boogie Nights" being the chief exceptions. "Inferno" producers are hoping they can tap into the same vein by telling the tortured tale of Linda Lovelace, whose breakout movie "Deep Throat" catapulted adult films into the mainstream consciousness. Both Jane and Preston agree that the story is ripe for gripping storytelling.
" 'Deep Throat' was such a huge movie and probably still the most talked-about [adult film] of all time, and starring in that really made her career," Jane said of Lovelace. "I love that she was very open about liking porn and didn't care about what people thought about it or her. That says a lot about her character, and I respect that."
Whether "Inferno" can move forward with Lohan remains in question, but she can count on the support of the adult-film community that she hopes to portray.
"Maybe this will give Lindsay an opportunity to play a role that she relates to and hopefully that will, in turn, make for a great movie," Preston said.

Lindsay Lohan Ready For Boyfriend
Lindsay Lohan will go back to romancing men if she can’t win Samantha Ronson back.
The ‘Mean Girls’ actress admitted she was “surprised” when she embarked on a relationship with the DJ, which lasted 18 months, as she had never been attracted to women before.
Lindsay said, “I never really thought about women before, it kind of just happened with Samantha. It surprised me. We’re still in touch.
“If I wasn’t with Samantha, I would probably be with a boy next. She’s the only woman I’ve been attracted to.”
Lindsay also blames Samantha’s friends for wrecking their relationship, claiming they were jealous of the DJ’s new-found celebrity status.
She added in an interview with The Sun newspaper, “I think Samantha was growing as a celebrity and a musician and I think that might have scared her family. But I’ve always been her biggest supporter, and yeah, I love her.
“All the fighting and stuff was just because her friends had got involved and made me an outcast. I think it was a jealousy thing in terms of her becoming more famous than the rest of them.”
Meanwhile, Lindsay’s father Michael Lohan has hit back at her claims yesterday, February 22, that her drug abuse escalated after he started giving interviews about her in 2007.
In a statement, Michael said he didn’t feel his daughter was over her drug problems.
He told website Hollyscoop, “I find her admissions of her experiences with alcohol and cocaine, to be noble, the real problem still exists with the prescription drug use that the so-called ‘addiction specialist’, therapist and doctors who are prescribing medication to Lindsay and other people.
“The problem for Lindsay and so many others is prescription drug use. It has taken lives, destroyed families and it will continue to do so until the government steps in and begins to put harsher restrictions on the writing of prescriptions.”

CBS announced this afternoon that the 24-year-old troubled starlet would be announcing the Top Ten List on the Late Show with David Letterman Thursday night.
Lohan will appear via satellite from Los Angeles.
This comes as somewhat of a surprise as Letterman's been poking fun at Lindsay lately. On February 9th, he had a whole list devoted to her, entitled "Top Ten Signs Lindsay Lohan Is Out of Control."
Letterman also mentioned her in his Top Ten List, "Surprises at the 2011 Grammy Awards," with the following line: "Lindsay Lohan seen leaving the Staples Center with a Grammy-shaped bulge."
Also interesting to note? The guest on Letterman's Thursday show will be Paris Hilton
